I met with the Korilla BBQ team on the Columbia University campus in Upper Manhattan, during the New Student Orientation day. They were serving food to the first-year students’ together with a Wafels & Dinges food truck. I interviewed Jasmine, who only started her work on the food truck 3 weeks ago. We focused on general subjects, regarding the work and her experience with food trucks so far. I asked Jasmin about the work itself, what she finds to be the most challenging aspects of it and what she has been enjoying so far.
As I organized the interview in advance, but was not sure who exactly from the company I would interview, I did improvise with the questions once it became clear that Jasmin does not have deep knowledge about the licenses and permits. The decision to do so I made on the spot, and it could be argued whether it was the right one. Possibly misguided objective was to make an interview of any kind, rather than risk of scaring her away and not get any content.
